Ropley Cricket Club’s Women and Girls Cricket Event

Havant and East Hants Mind were proud to attend Ropley Cricket Club’s recent Women and Girls Cricket Event, celebrating an incredible 10 years of success. As one of our valued Mental Health Ambassador clubs in Hampshire, Ropley CC continues to champion positive mental health through sport, helping keep wellbeing conversations active in the community.

As part of the event, our team ran an interactive “stress bucket” activity, led by Lorna, to get everyone thinking about everyday stress and how to manage it. Andrew from Ropley CC supported the activity by providing six cricket balls, each representing a common daily stressor. These were added to the bucket to show how, over time, stress can build and potentially overflow—just like in real life when pressures aren’t managed.

Participants were then encouraged to come up with ideas for “releasing” that stress—ways to create outlets and reduce the pressure in the bucket. We created holes in the bucket representing positive coping strategies like walking, spending time with loved ones, talking to someone, and taking regular breaks—small but powerful actions that can make a big difference to our mental wellbeing.

We’re incredibly grateful to Ropley Cricket Club for their ongoing support and commitment to promoting mental health through sport.
