Ladies from Rowlands Castle WI collect presents on behalf of Havant and East Hants Mind

Every year ladies from Rowlands Castle WI collect presents on behalf of Havant and East Hants Mind, for in-patients who are staying in local acute mental health wards and care homes over Christmas.

Today, on Christmas Day, people who do not have any family or who otherwise would not be receiving presents on Christmas Day will be receiving presents right now thanks to the kind generosity of Rowlands Castle WI who each year donate presents for many isolated people. Our advocacy team members visit isolated members of the community who may be sectioned under the mental health act or in care homes with no family to look after them or to ensure that their views are heard and their rights protected.

We know that poor mental health can lead to isolation when in the community, but when on a ward or a care home, away from family friends and the outside world, receiving presents from the community, who just want to let them know that they are remembered and missed can be a great comfort.

The presents were delivered to Havant and East Hants Mind by Mrs Sarah Lee, chair of the Rowlands Castle WI.

We’d like to thank the WI ladies for all their efforts and to all the care staff who are working on Christmas Day.

Petersfield Community Choir

A big thank you to Petersfield Community Choir whose seasonal and sensational performance put everyone in the Christmas spirit. Amongst the Christmas cheer abundant at St. Peter’s Church in Petersfield, members of the choir and Petersfield community attending the event, donated £712 to Havant and East Hants Mind to continue their work in the local area.

Ross Borman of HEH Mind spoke at the event explaining the well-known physical and mental health benefits associated with singing. Perhaps you might like to consider joining a fun choir or any kind of musical activity to help promote good well-being

You can hear clips of their performance and see a list of upcoming events that they will be involved with here

We strongly recommend attending, it really was a treat. Once again thank you to everyone who attended and contributed from all at Havant and East Hants Mind

Mind Media Awards

We were delighted to hear this morning from our Community Development Team, who attended the #MindMediaAwards on Thursday 29 November.

It was great, even for those of us watching online, to see the celebration of respectful mental health media coverage and the recognition of all the work local Minds do to support communities and individuals who may be struggling.
